BezBukv is a local desktop utility. It runs entirely on your computer. It does not create accounts, does not connect to the internet on its own, does not collect analytics or telemetry, does not show advertising, and does not send your keystrokes, clipboard contents, or any other personal data to anyone. There are no servers behind BezBukv that receive your data, because BezBukv does not transmit your data at all.

The sections below explain exactly what the app accesses on your device, why, and what (if anything) is stored.

1. What BezBukv does

BezBukv has two features:

  1. Layout correction. When you select text that was typed in the wrong keyboard layout and press a hotkey, BezBukv converts it between English (US) and Russian (ЙЦУКЕН) and either replaces the text or shows the result in a small window.
  2. Peek. While you hold a chosen key combination (or, optionally, briefly while you type), BezBukv shows an on-screen overlay with the symbols of your selected keyboard layouts.

To do this, the app must interact with your keyboard, the clipboard, and the currently active window. How it does that — and the strict limits involved — is described below.

2. Information the app accesses on your device

All of the following happens locally on your device, in real time. None of it is recorded to a remote service, and (except where explicitly stated) none of it is written to disk.

2.1 Keyboard input

To show the Peek overlay, to record a hotkey you are assigning, and during keyboard calibration, BezBukv temporarily installs a low-level keyboard hook provided by your operating system. While this hook is active, the app receives information about physical key presses (such as the key's scan code and state).

Important limits:

  • The keyboard hook is not always on. It is activated only for the Peek overlay, for recording a shortcut you are setting, or for the calibration wizard, and it is removed when that activity ends.
  • BezBukv does not reconstruct, record, or store the text you type. BezBukv is not a keylogger. It uses key information only to display the overlay or to capture the single shortcut you are deliberately assigning.
  • Nothing about your keystrokes is written to disk or transmitted anywhere.

2.2 Clipboard

When — and only when — you press the layout-correction hotkey, BezBukv takes a snapshot of your current clipboard into memory, triggers a copy of your selected text, reads that text, converts it, and places the result back for pasting. It then restores your original clipboard contents.

Important limits:

  • The clipboard is read only in response to your explicit correction command. BezBukv does not monitor or poll your clipboard in the background.
  • The clipboard snapshot lives in memory only and is cleared when the operation ends. BezBukv does not write it to disk and does not transmit it anywhere.
  • The clipboard is a shared feature of your operating system. What the OS itself does with clipboard contents — for example Windows Clipboard History (Win+V) or cloud clipboard sync — is controlled by your own operating-system settings, not by BezBukv.

2.3 Active window and focused field

To decide whether to replace your text in place or show a result window, and where to position its overlay, BezBukv reads limited information about the currently active window and focused input field — such as the window's process name, whether the field is editable, and the caret position/size.

Important limits:

  • BezBukv reads this as routing and positioning metadata. It does not read the text content of other applications' fields or documents, and it does not read other processes' memory.

2.4 Keyboard layout information from your operating system

BezBukv reads the list of keyboard layouts installed in your operating system and their display names in order to render the correct symbols on the Peek overlay and to switch layouts when needed. This is read-only system configuration information.

3. Information stored on your device

BezBukv stores data only on your own device, never on a remote server.

  • Settings file settings.json. A local file on your device that holds your preferences (hotkeys, selected layouts, appearance, and similar options). It does not contain your typed text or clipboard contents.
  • Optional diagnostics log diagnostics.log.jsonl — troubleshooting only. This is a troubleshooting mode that is off by default and is not part of normal use: it is not exposed in the app's interface, and an app that is simply installed and launched normally never creates this file. It is created only if the app is deliberately started in diagnostics mode. When active, it records technical metadata only — timestamps, event and outcome types, counts, window/process names, overlay geometry, and a salted, one-way hash of the converted text that cannot be reversed to the text — and never your raw keystrokes, the text you typed, or your clipboard contents. If it exists, it stays on your device until you delete it.

This data is stored only on your device, protected by your operating system's standard access permissions, and kept until you delete it. You can delete either file manually at any time. Uninstalling BezBukv removes these files together with the application.

4. Information collected or shared

None. BezBukv does not collect personal data, does not use analytics or telemetry, does not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs, and does not sell or share any data, because it does not transmit your data in the first place. BezBukv requires no account and no sign-in.

5. Network use and external links

BezBukv does not initiate network connections on its own. The only case where a network request can occur is when you click a link inside the app (for example, a support or problem-report link). In that case your default web browser opens the corresponding web page. Those external websites and your browser are governed by their own privacy policies, not by this one.

6. Starting automatically at sign-in

If you turn on the optional "start automatically" setting, BezBukv registers itself with your operating system's standard startup mechanism so it launches when you sign in to your user account. This uses a per-user setting, requires no administrator or elevated rights, and is fully reversible: turning the setting off removes it.

7. Permissions and privileges

BezBukv runs with standard user privileges and does not request administrator or elevated rights. It does not install any driver, kernel extension, or background system service.

8. Children

BezBukv is a general-purpose keyboard utility. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.

9. Your control over your data

Because all BezBukv data stays on your device, you remain in full control:

  • Delete settings.json to remove your preferences.
  • Delete diagnostics.log.jsonl (if you ever created it) to remove diagnostic metadata.
  • Turn off the "start automatically" setting to stop it launching at sign-in.
  • Uninstall BezBukv to remove the application and its local data.

10. Changes to this policy

If the behavior of the app changes in a way that affects this policy — for example, if a future version adds update checks, crash reporting, or any network feature — this policy will be updated and the last-updated date above will be revised. Material changes will be reflected on this page.

If you have questions about this privacy policy or about how BezBukv handles data, use the contact shown at the top of this page.
